NEW: Treklog ONLINE
I am proud to announce the first script of TrekLog ONLINE, I've started working on a series of JAVAScripts to do the various calculations in Treklog without the download. You can now calculate any stardate from any earthdate right from the SubspaceLink website in the new, Treklog Online. Click the link on the Treklog page to give it a try.
Soon I will be introducing ETA and EDA calculators, and perhaps more.
Treklog 2.0 delays
Last night I gave a try at installing Windows 2000 on my development system. I eventually succeeded, but at one point in the several install attempts in the night (I started installing at 9 pm, and finally got it up at 5 am), the data on the hard drive got erased. Unfortunately, I didn't have a backup copy of the source code of Treklog 2 (I had a copy of the compiled version but not the source code) and so I'm going to have to start the coding of TL2 over again from scratch. As such I'm going to renumber it to 2.5 as there will likely be several changes now that I have the "wonderful" opportunity to start over. Anyway, TL2 is going to have to wait a while until it can be released because of this.
SubspaceLink PADD
Well in my work on the SubspaceLink PADD, I've activated the Navigation feature and put a CSIM (Client Side Image Map) on that screen. Also, I've put a listing of past issues of the SubLink newsletter in the PADD and when you click on it it goes to the SubLink main screen. Also, the Treklog ONLINE calculators (see above) will all be in the PADD.
SubspaceLink Newsletter Archive
As mentioned in the last section, I've started putting copies of the SubspaceLink newsletter up on the web site. You can get a list of the Newsletters by clicking the link on the main page, and view the individual newsletters by clicking the issue number.
Unfortunately, I don't have copies of anything previous to Volume 2 Issue 12. If anyone happens to keep copies of things and happens to have any other issues of the newsletter somewhere, please forward them to me at [redacted], you will receive a commendation for providing the information and of course, I will edit the copy and get it up on the SubspaceLink website. So if anyone happens to have a copy of any SubspaceLink newsletter preceding Volume 2 Issue 12, I would greatly appreciate them.
Treklog mIRC Script work begun
To continue my goal of making Treklog more than just a program, but a versatile group of programs and scripts to do my favorite calculations in various methods, I have started work on a fully featured TrekLog mIRC script. I've already received a great deal of help from Cadet Netborg in this.
For his assistance in the scripting of the Treklog mIRC Script, Cadet Netborg has been promoted to the rank of Ensign as of Stardrate: 099589.0
Voyager moves to 5 flights
In order to keep us Trek Fans interested in Star Trek through the long haul, Voyager is moving to 5 nights a week on many UPN stations across the USA. I'd like to know what you think about this tactic to hold the Trek Fans' interest. Send me an e-mail at [redacted] with the subject of "Voyager: 5 flights"
Voyager's life: The continuing story.
Wow, this issue of the newsletter is getting long. Anyway, last issue I asked you to tell me your opinions on if Voyager will outlive its predecessors, or if it will perhaps even die earlier. Well, so far I got 2 responses. So here they are:
"I think if the writers improve the story line a bit maybe add a little more action it might take off in the ratings and live past the 7th season, but if they stay the way there are even me a Treker to the hart I might stop watching it."
-- Cadet Rodney
"No. The producers even said that they'd wrap-up after seven years. I've read quotes in various magazines and on the 'net about it. Voyager will end after S7, perhaps earlier if the current quality of writing doesn't improve..."
-- Ens. Jill Dannay
I'd like to hear any further opinions you have on this matter along with the other discussion matter I brought up this issue. Just send an e-mail to [redacted] with the subject of "Will Voyager outlive its predecessors"
