Restoring old editorial content

I've been going through the old Metadot version of the site (circa 2001 - 2006) and have been manually importing editorial content from that site. I will be doing the same thing with the drupal site later, as well as the pre-metadot content.

To start with I've been importing the old episode reviews I wrote back in the early 2000s as well as all of the known editions of the SubspaceLink Newsletter (I had forgotten I used to have an email newsletter way back then where I reviewed Voyager episodes as they aired, yes that long ago).

The episode content is in the system but not visible on the site yet (stay tuned, I'll be templating it out soon) but you can read the old entries in the newsletter by scrolling back in this log until those older dates.

I've also been working on some special tricks, like the ability to change the LCARS template to one of TheLCARS.com's other templates based on what area of the site you are on. For example, when reviewing an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, I can change the LCARS color scheme to the Lower Decks template or the Lower Decks PADD template (did you notice that this post is in that style?), while a review from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation can use the TNG Legacy Theme.

Lots of fun stuff happening here, and I'm looking forward to seeing a complete Holodeck 3 site here.

Content Notice

I'm restoring the old content "as is" other than making it fit into the templating of the new site. This means the writing quality of some of these old posts, and the opinions expressed in those old posts are the quality and opinions of myself (and others) from 20 years ago.

While I'm proud of all of the work I've put into this site over the many years I've run it, I can definitely see differences (and hopefully you'd agree, improvements) in both my writing style and in my opinions.

As an example, I wrote a newsletter on September 13, 2001. The newsletter is full of run-on-sentences, rambling thoughts, and most importantly the opinions of someone with far different political and religious beliefs than I now possess. I was still in shock from the events of 2 days prior. I'm proud of myself in that I did include a section pleading with my readers not to blame all Muslims for the actions of a few, but I'm not proud of myself for bringing in Christian religion into my Star Trek fansite.
